Georgian Insurance Sector Gathers at GIIC 2023 in Tbilisi

The III Georgian International Insurance Conference (GIIC 2023) took place on May 4–5, 2023, in Tbilisi, Georgia, bringing together key stakeholders from the regional and international insurance community. The event was organized by the State Insurance Supervision Service of Georgia with logistical support from XPRIMM Publications.

This year’s conference focused on two pivotal developments in the Georgian insurance market:

• The upcoming introduction of the mandatory Motor Third Party Liability (MTPL) insurance system

• The market’s transition to the Solvency II regulatory framework

  
  

Throughout the two-day event, industry experts explored the implications, challenges, and opportunities these changes will bring. Discussions covered regulatory strategy, market readiness, international best practices, and how digitalization will shape the new insurance landscape in Georgia.

GIIC 2023 once again served as a significant platform for dialogue, policy reflection, and experience exchange between regulators, insurers, reinsurers, and technology providers from across Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus region.
